Episode 1

Embracing Authenticity: Overcoming Perfectionism and Finding Your True Voice - My Personal Transformation

Welcome to the inaugural episode of TURTZED, where we set the stage for a transformative journey of self-discovery and authenticity.

In this first episode, I open up about my own path towards embracing my true self and the profound impact finding my authenticity has had on my life. In this episode, I set my intention and goals for the podcast - to go deep on the themes of authenticity, personal growth, and supportive relationships, as well as share my self discovery story.

“Who are we if not authentic?”

This question seems so simple, yet has had a profound impact on my journey. Authenticity is not just about being honest with others, but more importantly, about being honest with oneself. It’s about shedding societal expectations and embracing one’s true identity.

For me, this realization was a turning point.

For most of my life I was trying to fit into a mold that wasn’t me and in this episode, we explore how this disconnect propelled me on a journey to find my authenticity and rediscover my true self, eventually inspiring the creation of TURTZED.

“Processing past traumas isn’t easy, but it’s necessary for growth.”

Confronting my own trauma head-on has been crucial to my personal development. I found my own support team, who have helped me through this process, and while it’s not always easy, it was absolutely necessary to find the growth I was looking for.

I truly believe that embracing these struggles head-on is the key to growth. For my listeners that are navigating through their own darkness, I encourage you to face it with courage. The process may be tough, but I promise, when you come out on the other side, you’ll be stronger, wiser, and more resilient than you ever thought possible.

“Surround yourself with people who lift you up, who value your authenticity.”

Surrounding oneself with compassionate and understanding people who encourage authenticity and vulnerability is absolutely key.

Having a network of supportive relationships has been instrumental in my own journey. These relationships with people like my therapist and trusted friends, provided me with the strength and encouragement needed to embrace my true self.

If you take anything away from this episode, I want you to know that there is support out there. It may not be exactly where you thought it would come from, but it's all about finding the right team that can meet you where you are.

“We’re here to TURTZ it up, to challenge our thought processes and create powerful plans for a happier future.”

This podcast is designed to ask the hard questions and turn problems upside down to create powerful plans for success.

As you tune in each week, my hope is that you're going to hear more stories, mine and others, that will resonate with you. And not just in the way of, yeah, someone did that to me, or I've had my heart broken too.

I want to make it more than that.

I want to talk about the patterns and concepts to help open our eyes to the connections we didn't even realize were there.

And all while sharing a witty one liner here and there to break the ice. Let’s challenge ourselves and grow together.

So, join me and tune in for a journey of introspection and honest reflection.

Deeply personal and honest

This is the first time I’ve listened to the very first episode of a podcast series and I was very moved. For me, personal and authentic storytelling and discussions are the most valuable way to share and grow.  With warmth, kindness, directness, humor, and a few well placed WTFs, Charlie has established a place of both challenge and safety. I look forward to seeing where he guides us.

Incredibly brave to put this out there, respect. And thanks, as a father to young children there are some critical lessons to learn from in this episode. Good work.
